Overview
 
  For an inverter to invert DC to AC of a specific frequency, a converter is required to correct the commercial power supply (AC) into DC. However, carrying out correction using only a diode bridge or similar device will generate power supply higher harmonics. These higher harmonics adversely affect commercial power supplies and apparatus and also lower the power factor. Thus, it is necessary to suppress power supply higher harmonics *1. In 2003, our company was the first in the industry to launch the "DIPPFC™", which has a transfer mold*2 structure. It is an active converter module that unitizes the PFC*3 function to suppress power supply higher harmonics and improve the power factor via its correction function. Since its launch, it has been utilized in many products, such as air conditioners. Our "small DIPPFC™ Series" line-up meets customer requirements for smaller DIPPFCs™ with higher output.*1 "Guideline for Higher Harmonics Suppression Measures for Home Electric Appliances and General-purpose Items" (the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association), etc.*2 A pressure molding method by which heated and pressurized resin is poured into an enclosed metal mold. It is possible to make multiple molds simultaneously.*3 Power Factor Correction

  Reducing the power chip loss helps to improve the efficiency of the inverter driving system.We aimed to reduce module loss by optimizing the characteristics of the power chip (two kinds of diodes) built into this product, and we were able to improve the loss by about 7% compared to conventional products*4. This helped to improve the efficiency of the inverter driving system.
 
 Reduced thermal resistance allows for both miniaturization and increased capacityWe utilized an insulating sheet structure with excellent thermal conductivity to improve the thermal resistance of the product, which has a rated current of 20A rms, by about 35% compared to the conventional level*4. As a result, the package size was reduced about 30% compared to the packaging area of conventional products*4. Furthermore, we added a 30A rms product of the same size as the 20A rms unit to our product line-up.
