| | In 1997, our company was the first in the industry to produce a DIPIPM™*2 using a transfer mold*3 structure. Since then, this module has been widely used in the inverter drives of many products including home electric appliances and industrial motors. Further, in 2004 our company launched the ultra-small "DIPIPM™ Ver. 4 Series", which realized compactness and low thermal resistance for use with home electric appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines. In home electric appliances, there is a demand for even smaller and less expensive inverter substrates. To meet this demand, our "DIPPSC™*4 Series" realizes a small package with outside dimensions of only 27.0 x 52.5 x 5.55mm. Despite the small dimensions of the DIPIPM™ Ver. 4 Series., the three peripheral functions that are conventionally attached externally are installed internally. Their small size contributes to smaller inverter substrates for products such as air conditioners, as well as to lower costs by reducing the number of required parts.*2 Dual-In-Line Package Intelligent Power Module: A power semiconductor module with multiple built-in control elements that incorporate protective functions.*3 A pressure molding method by which heated and pressurized resin is poured into an enclosed metal mold. It is possible to make multiple molds simultaneously.*4 Partial Switching Circuit |

| | Industry First features an internal PSC to suppress power supply higher harmonicsThe higher harmonics generated in the inverter substrate's power supply circuit affect commercial power supplies and apparatus. To suppress them*5, it has conventionally been necessary to separately install a partial switching circuit (PSC), consisting of a diode bridge and a switching element, on the DIPIPM™'s power supply side. For the first time in the industry, a PSC has been built into a DIPIPM™.*5 "Guideline for Higher Harmonics Suppression Measures for Home Electric Appliances and General-purpose Items" (the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association), etc. | | | Built-in bootstrap circuitThe bootstrap circuit, which is required to drive the HVIC*6 in a DIPIPM™, has conventionally been attached externally. However, in this product the high-voltage high-speed diode and the limiting resistor which make up the structure of the bootstrap circuit have been built-in.*6 An abbreviation for High-voltage IC. An IC to drive the IGBT. | | | Built-in temperature detection functionIn the past thermistors were attached externally for module temperature protection. However, this product is equipped with a function which relays the internal temperature information from the LVIC*7 control element in the interior of the DIPIPM™ to the exterior. *7 Low-voltage IC. An IC to drive the IGBT. |
